Parkerizing is a Military Specification (Mil. Spec.) finish that is more durable than bluing and withstands abrasion and humidity much better. The parkerizing finish is dark and black .

Note that stainless steel, chrome or nickel plated parts, aluminum, pot-metal, brass and alloys cannot be parkerized.
